Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot failing at parkour is strangely humbling
We knew the Boston Kinetics robots could dance, only this is something else. Directly, the ship's company's much loved Atlas golem has learned to bust some crooked parkour moves, backflips and all (above), only there's a jolly scandalmongering blooper reel to go along with IT (further dispirited).
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry suitable now, only these outtakes of Atlas falling flat on its arse (via Futurism) are for sure to awaken some flavour of emotion for you—equal IT joyous operating theatre fearful.
It took a calendar month of breeding to turn Atlas into the hardcore parkour prima it is today. Just as a babe learns to walk, its new technique was underpinned by countless tumbles. Each fall helps the AI build a more concrete understanding of the course of instruction and how best to conquer it.
After all that intemperate work and dedication, it's fourth dimension to sit out back and reap the benefits. Among which sits this incredible outtakes telecasting, cut from a longer video along the Boston Dynamics Youtube line, and tweeted by science communicator Kyle Hill. Enjoy.

To begin with this calendar month, we proverb a new stock of AI beautiful much ace the Blade Base runner Voight-Kampff empathy test, and Atlas doing parkour genuinely takes the biscuit for Pine Tree State. It's just another example of how quickly AI is adapting to the other human-made world it's confronted with. Hiccups are to be expected, of course, as with any tech externalize—not least extraordinary that involves extremely mobile AI.
So, AI takes another leap toward infiltrating the fabric of our everyday lives. The latest advancements stingy Three-toed sloth rear end be your conversational partner, dance partner, and now even parkour partner. And you know Atlas will fetch up better than us.
With Elon Musk's plans for the Tesla bot surfacing, it seems the age of artificially intelligent butlers wish presently be upon us. But the bloopers here evince there's still a long way to go before we get them right.
